About

Scott Fleming

Welcome to the College of Business, Humanities, and Social Sciences!  Within our college you may pursue a variety of majors including Accounting, Adventure Recreation Management, Aviation Management, Business Management, Criminal Justice, Forensic Investigation, Health Services Administration, History and Government, Psychology, Public Service Administration, the Regents Bachelor of Arts, and Sports Management.  Additionally, through WVU Potomac State we offer a 2-year Culinary Arts program, and through the WVU School of Nursing we offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Most programs allow for students to have an area of emphasis or even a minor beyond the major requirements, and thus, to a certain degree, allow students to tailor and refine their education into areas of deeper focus. If you are currently a junior or senior in high school student and are looking to get a “head start” on your college career, you may want to investigate our Early Enrollment program.  You may be able to take college courses while in high school, saving time and money when you go to college.  For those who are working adults and have a desire to complete their college studies, the Regents Bachelor of Arts program may be of interest.  This program designed to meet the needs of working adults and accepts academic credits for prior college experience and work- or career-related experience.

Regardless of the program, we wish to help students find a path to a job that becomes a career, find and explore interests that become a passion, and develop and build skills that become a foundation to vocational and professional expertise.  We do this through dedicated and knowledgeable faculty who instruct and advise our students, through student organizations and clubs that combine fun with professional networking, and through the effective use of some of the most up-to-date and advanced classroom and lab settings in the country.  We have a number of computer labs, a crime scene house, forensic labs, and even an undergraduate behavioral animal lab to enhance the learning experience.  We have working relationships with several employers throughout and beyond the state, in public, private, and governmental entities, which assist in the placement of students in internships and full-time post-graduation employment. Additionally, we are situated in one of the most beautiful locations in the eastern United States, with convenient access to hiking, climbing, biking, rafting, and snow skiing – just minutes away.

Lastly, I note that as part of the one WVU system, pathways exist for students at WVU Tech to pursue graduate degrees to further their academic advancement.  If your ultimate goal is to attain a graduate degree, please investigate the option of an undergraduate degree at Tech and then a graduate degree from WVU.  Many of our programs appropriate align for those with that goal in mind.

The faculty and staff are dedicated to providing students a quality education leading to rewarding careers in the private and public sectors and preparing students for admission into professional graduate programs. More information on majors and minors may be found in the links within the WVU Tech web page to individual programs and departments, and I hope to see you on campus.
